Situated in the heart of uptown Saint John, The Aberdeen is one of two adjoining heritage buildings that run from Canterbury down to Prince William Street along Princess.
The Aberdeen is a beautiful red brick building at the corner of Canterbury and Princess, which was built in 1878 as a hotel (known as the Aberdeen Hotel), became the first law school in New Brunswick (i.e. the University of New Brunswick Law School) in the early 1900’s, and became home to numerous Provincial government agencies around the middle of the 20th century until such time as it was sold privately – around the turn of the century.
Today, the ground floor along Princess is occupied by a few of Saint John’s most popular restaurants – Big Tide Brewing Company and Mexicali Rosa’s. The main level off Canterbury consists of offices, and the upper two floors are redeveloped into a multitude of high-end residential suites.
